FTS/BrandSource member backfills Houston market

Houston-based Exclusive Furniture continued its metro market buildout in December with the formal opening of its ninth area store.
Owner/CEO Sam Zavary launched the business in 1998 with a single, 2,100-square-foot showroom in Southeast Houston’s Almeda Mall. Leveraging his “Super Sam” persona in TV ads and the tagline “Where low prices live!” he and his brother Fawad opened progressively larger locations and built Exclusive Furniture into a local staple.
The newest location, in the East Houston community of Baytown, occupies 65,000 square feet, comprised of a 54,000-square-foot main showroom and an 11,000-square-foot discount section. The store soft-opened in time for Black Friday and held a formal ribbon-cutting and grand opening event on Dec. 12.
Zavary, an immigrant who started the company days after his 21st birthday, said the growing Baytown area was underserved, with no local furniture stores.
“People have changed their buying habits,” he told Houston’s KHOU-11 TV. “They don’t go 40 minutes, 50 minutes to shop; they want to buy where they live … We want them to know we are their local furniture store.”
The FTS/BrandSource member carries a wide assortment of loveseats, sofas, recliners, dining and bedroom sets, mattresses and accessories, and offers same-day delivery and complimentary in-home interior design consultations. The company is also very active in the communities it serves, contributing to numerous charitable endeavors throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Zavary told Furniture Today that he and Fawad have an aggressive, five-year expansion plan that calls for two new stores in 2025. “My brother and I are still very young and we’re going to grow the business,” he said.
