New color collection inspired by the Aurora Borealis

Canadian vendor Elmira Stove Works, makers of premium vintage-look appliances and woodburning stoves, has released a new curated color collection called Aurora Borealis.
Named after the beautiful nighttime displays of color in northernmost skies, the new grouping celebrates the recent appearance of the natural phenomenon over wide swaths of the U.S. where it’s seldom seen.
The contemporary series is comprised of four new tones that are available as custom color options in Elmira’s Northstar and Heritage product lines. They include:
- Helium Halo, a deep purple shade that gets its name from the helium molecules that help produce its color
- Charged Atmosphere, a bright, lively tone inspired by the green aurora that occurs when charged particles collide with oxygen molecules
- Hydrogen Horizon, an icy blue that takes its name from the hydrogen molecules that create the blue auroras that contrast with the night sky
- Night Watch, a rich black-blue hue reminiscent of the dark sky conditions that allow the northern lights to be most visible.
“In Canada, we are privileged to have regular sightings of the northern lights,” said Tony Dowling, Elmira’s vice president of sales and marketing. “However, this period of heightened activity allows a greater number of people a chance to admire the natural phenomenon. Elmira’s Aurora Borealis Collection is our way of recognizing this event while championing the use of color in kitchen design.”
The Aurora Borealis occurs when solar flares meet strong magnetic fields in the earth’s atmosphere. The nighttime spectacle is entering its peak phase between November and March 2026, when it will be visible to even more observers across North America.
