Amundson’s Appliance Keeps Kids Clean

Wisconsin dealer’s Clean Clothes for Kids campaign helps families in need

In the roughly 18 months Amundson’s Appliance has been running the Clean Clothes for Kids program, it’s given away 18 laundry pairs to families in need in its Northwest Wisconsin communities.

“Every school has a family or several families where household money is extremely tight,” said owner Lucas Amundson when the program launched. “If a washer or dryer goes out, or parents can’t afford the laundromat, the kids find themselves having to go to school with the same dirty clothes. Often these kids are teased and bullied.”

The plan was to give away one laundry pair each month, rotating among the four counties where business’s five stores are located. The program eventually evolved to include local schools.

Community Connections

“By working closely with school administrators and counselors, we’ve been able to identify families in need more effectively,” said staffer Katie Dalhberg. “This partnership has helped us ensure that we’re reaching families who will benefit the most, while also building stronger connections within the community.”

Feedback from the community and from recipient families has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Many recipients have expressed deep gratitude, sharing stories of how having a washer and dryer at home has made day-to-day life more manageable,” Dahlberg said.

It’s also been a positive experience for the team at Amundson’s, she said.

High Impact

“The program has been an incredibly rewarding initiative for our team,” she said. “Every month, we’re reminded of the significant impact that a washer and dryer can have on a family, especially for those who may be facing difficult circumstances. Each appliance set we give represents a small, yet meaningful step toward creating a more comfortable and manageable home environment for families.”

To maintain the anonymity of the recipients, Amundson’s doesn’t share names or take pictures.

“Protecting their privacy is a top priority for us, and we understand that these families may prefer to keep their situations private,” Dahlberg said.
