Unique Appliances is bringing its Classic Retro kitchen collection to BSF and next week’s BrandSource Convention.
Unique Appliances joins BSF’s floor-planning roster

Few companies are as aptly named as Unique Appliances.
The 30-year-old Canadian resource began as a provider of propane- and solar-powered kitchen products, and has since expanded into a full line of traditionally-fueled and off-grid refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and accessories, in both contemporary and retro styles.
Now, thanks to a new partnership with BrandSource Financial (BSF), members have an opportunity to finance Unique’s distinctive, well-crafted and affordably-priced appliances through the group’s own in-house floor-planning arm. That means no-interest financing* and, as GM Chris Moore explained, a half a point Annual Cash Distribution (ACD), which is AVB’s way of funneling BSF’s profits back to its members.
“In essence, this is a rebate that gives BSF a big advantage over others in the industry,” she said.
Mathieu Kernaleguen, Unique Appliances’ vice president of sales, is equally pleased to join the expansive BSF brand roster and become a BrandSource vendor partner. “Unique Appliances is excited to exhibit at the BrandSource Convention for the first time,” he said. “We look forward to meeting the members and introducing the Unique Appliances line. With the Unique line of Classic Retro appliances and the backing of BrandSource Financial, we look forward to the 2024 Convention and a long partnership with BrandSource.”
To help kick off that partnership, every member who adds Unique to its BSF account will be entered in a raffle for a 12-cubic-foot Classic Retro bottom-mount refrigerator in a choice of seven colors. The drawing will be held at BSF’s EXPO floor booth at the conclusion of Convention. “We’re counting down the days to see who wins!” Moore said.
Aimed at boomers and millennials, Unique’s nostalgic Retro collection offers a mid-20th century look replete with rounded edges, a 1950s palette and chrome-finished accents, combined with 21st century engineering. Recent additions include a Pro-style 22-cubic-foot French door refrigerator and a 12-cubic-foot refrigerator, both in seven colors, as well as a 12-cubic-foot solar DC refrigerator that joined Unique’s off-grid selection.
The company also offers a design-focused Prestige line in white, black and stainless steel finishes that targets consumers with smaller homes, condominiums and apartments, Kernaleguen said in an interview with TWICE.
