Curry’s Appliance & More named BrandSource Dealer of the Year

Sometimes, great things grow out of catastrophe. That’s the story of Curry’s Appliance & More, which grew out of the rubble of a Sears Hometown store.
Shawn and Suzette Curry owned and operated a Hometown store for seven years before Sears declared bankruptcy. When disaster struck, they turned to BrandSource to get back on their feet and ended up as a Whirlpool exclusive dealer with strong ties to BrandSource.
Curry’s Appliance & More of Colville, Wash. was named the 2024 BrandSource Dealer of the Year for the Northwest Region at the BrandSource National Convention in Dallas. The Currys were honored at the buying group’s awards ceremony, which was a highlight of the annual show.
Life After Sears
“Being left with a large debt from Sears, we reached out to BrandSource to find overwhelming support and resources,” Shawn Curry said. “After attending the Las Vegas Summit in 2023 as BrandSource guest, we returned and reopened our door as Curry’s Appliance & More on May 1, 2023, fully stocked and supported by Whirlpool product.”
The business has also added Sealy mattresses and lawn and garden equipment to its Whirlpool appliance assortment.
Besides its steadfast commitment to its community, Curry attributes his company’s newfound success to its membership in BrandSource. The national, dealer-owned cooperative offers a wide range of retail support services including transactional websites, digital marketing, in-store displays, consumer and inventory financing, volume discount programs and invaluable peer-to-peer networking, which became crucial as the internet and national big-box chains altered the retail landscape.

“We have had a fantastic experience with AVB BrandSource, which helped us get back up and running,” he said. “We can’t say enough great things about its resources, from website setup to point-of-sale systems as well as suppliers. They helped direct us to the things we needed to make our business strong again.”
The BrandSource Dealer of the Year awards are presented annually to members like Curry’s Appliance & More that have demonstrated a continued commitment to excellence in the retail industry and to their fellow BrandSource dealers. The winners, who are selected by the members within each of the group’s 14 regions, must also show their support of BrandSource and its vendor partners by attending regional meetings and national events such as the annual Convention and Summit.
