2nd-generation McEntire’s Home Appliance named Dealer of the Year

When Sears pulled the plug on its catalog showroom division, Hometown store owners Ron and Terri McEntire saw their livelihood vanish. But they put their knowhow to good use and in 1993 opened McEntire’s Home Appliance in Lincoln, Ill.
That store, now under the leadership of their daughter Carie Groves, was named Dealer of the Year for the Maytag Channel at the 2024 BrandSource Convention in Dallas.
Groves, who was honored at the national event, said her father taught her everything she knows about appliances and business. She also applauded the role AVB BrandSource has played in the success of the family business.
A Shot in the Arm
“AVB BrandSource has changed the way I do business, and my sales have increased dramatically,” Groves said. “I have only been with the group for a short six years, but of my 29 years in business, these have been the best.”
Member-owned BrandSource offers a wide range of retail support services including transactional websites, digital marketing, in-store displays, consumer and inventory financing, volume discount programs and invaluable peer-to-peer networking, which became crucial as the internet and national big-box chains altered the retail landscape.
The BrandSource Dealer of the Year awards are presented annually to members like McEntire’s Home Appliance that have demonstrated a continued commitment to excellence in the retail industry and to their fellow BrandSource dealers. The winners, who are selected by the members within each of the group’s 14 regions, must also show their support of BrandSource and its vendor partners by attending regional meetings and national events such as the annual Convention and Summit.
