Weathers Furniture & Appliance named BrandSource Dealer of the Year

Few independent retailers can rival the history and longevity of Weathers Furniture & Appliance. For 107 years, the family-owned business has adjusted and evolved to meet the needs of its community and the realities of the day, becoming a diverse business with a history of success.
The Albertville, Ala. business was named BrandSource Dealer of the Year for the Southeast Region at the buying group’s 2024 national Convention in Dallas. Owner Jeff Weathers was honored at the buying group’s awards ceremony, which was a highlight of the annual show.
Weathers Furniture & Appliance opened its doors in 1917, when Jeff Roberts purchased an interest in an Alabama hardware store. After the WWII, he sold the business to his son and son-in-law, C.L. Weathers, and the two men added furniture and appliances to the mix.
Expansion Plans
Weathers bought out his partner in the late 1960s and later sold the business to his own sons, Bob and John Weathers. The brothers added two additional locations for furniture and appliances as well as an additional hardware store and a heavy equipment rental business.
In 2008, John sold his interest to Bob’s son Jeff and son-in-law Adam Pierce. Since then, the three partners have added an appliance repair department, more hardware stores and expanded the rental business.
Honor Thy Father
In memory of C.L. Weathers, who died in 2003, the family established a scholarship program and has given more than $50,000 to deserving students in the three Alabama communities the company serves.
Weathers Furniture & Appliance takes advantage of many of BrandSource’s member benefits, including national events and networking with fellow dealers. The company is also participating in the group’s new direct-import furniture program, FTS Direct.
The BrandSource Dealer of the Year awards are presented annually to members who have demonstrated a continued commitment to excellence in the retail industry and to their fellow BrandSource dealers. The winners, who are selected by the members within each of the group’s 14 regions, also show their support of BrandSource and its vendor partners by attending regional meetings and national events such as the annual Convention and Summit.
