New ‘Take 5’ program counters ocean freight surcharges

Legends Home, the Arizona-based furniture manufacturer and importer, has launched a 5%-off discount program ahead of next week’s Las Vegas Summer Market.
According to a report in Furniture Today, the company’s new “Take 5” program offers retailers 5% off the cost of any product — whether made domestically or imported — that is stored at its hometown warehouse facility in the Phoenix suburb of Tolleson. A minimum purchase of $1,500 is required to qualify for the discount, which will be offered through Labor Day.
“This really is a super low minimum,” Product VP Tim Donk told the publication.

In addition, Legends is offering further discounts, and 5% off the trucking bill, on orders of 500 cubes or more. (For reference, a truckload is approximately 3,200 cubes, Furniture Today noted.)
“Buy it out of our warehouse and we’ll give you a better price,” Donk said. “We’ve been talking about ocean freight surcharges, and we’re taking an anti-surcharge approach … You don’t have to deal with ocean freight, and it ships immediately.”

“It’s different than what everyone else is doing,” Donk said of the promotion. “We want to help [our retail customers] out.”
