Members make up 30% of TWICE’s Top 50 chart

You can’t talk appliances without including BrandSource.
That became abundantly clear in TWICE magazine’s just released “2024 Top 50 Major Appliance Retailer Report,” which appears in the publication’s June issue.
Based on last year’s retail sales as compiled by market intelligence firm Senex Global, the rankings reveal that BrandSource dealers dominate the playing field, with members holding 15 of the Top 50 slots. That represents a whopping 30% of the chart positions, or nearly twice that of the next two largest buying group contingents.
Top 20
Among the BrandSource dealers, three members, Albert Lee Appliance, Big Sandy Superstore and Grand Appliance and TV, cracked the Top 20, while a second trio, comprised of Yale Appliance, Famous Tate and Spencer’s TV & Appliance, controlled the 21st-30th place tier.
Meanwhile, there was plenty of wrangling at the top of the chart, where The Home Depot displaced Lowe’s for the number-one spot after years of second-place status. Home Depot’s appliance sales slipped 4% last year to $10.9 billion, TWICE reported, which was still enough to edge out Lowe’s, which showed a 9% decline, to $10.8 billion.
Retaining its longtime third-place position was Best Buy, despite a precipitous 15% decline to $4.5 billion in appliance sell-through.
Tough Slog
Indeed, the TWICE Top 50 serves as a reminder of last year’s challenges as white-goods retailers and their customers came down from the sugar highs of the post-pandemic period. Total Top 50 sales slipped 8.3% to $35.7 billion from 2022, the report showed, as most dealers — with the exception of multiple BrandSource members — found it tough to match the prior year’s more robust results.
TWICE is expected to make its complete “Top 50 Major Appliance Retailer” report available for purchase here.
