BrandSource lost a great friend and colleague with the passing in February of Tony Bozzuto, owner of Bozzuto’s Furniture and Appliance in Shoshone, Idaho. He was 69.
Bozzuto was a longtime BrandSource member and served on the board of the Rocky Mountain Region for many years. He began working at the family retail business while still in high school and eventually purchased the store from his parents in 1983. He owned and operated Bozzuto’s and served on the Rocky Mountain board right up until his passing.
Bozzuto was known to all who worked for him as a great boss, and his business was the hub for many to meet and socialize, or just hang out with him. He had a nickname for everyone he knew and built relationships with many people over the years with his wit, charm and endearing personality.
Todd Hall, principle at Duerden’s Appliance in Bountiful, Utah, is going to miss his friend and fellow board member. “Tony was a wonderful friend and had a deep heart for all of us,” Hall said. “He felt his fellow BrandSource members were an extension of his family and loved all of us. He was a role model for kindness, caring and enthusiasm.”
Jackie King, owner of Nampa Appliance in Nampa, Idaho, and Rocky Mountain Region president, worked closely with Bozzuto for many years. “I’m going to miss my brother from another mother,” she said. “Tony was a unicorn in that he was a one of a kind. The 30 years of friendship we shared and his service as secretary for the region will never be forgotten. He leaves all of us with so many memories. His love for his amazing daughters, his commitment to AVB and his passion for the Shoshone community will live on deep inside all of those he touched.”
Bozzuto was a man of many interests and passionate about everything he did. He was an avid skier, enjoyed hunting hiking and camping, played the drums and loved sports cars, including his Porsche. He also loved jamming out to classic rock, hanging with friends and above all, helping anyone in need.
Ever the mentor, Bozzuto coached legion baseball for years. Once daughters Dani and Shelby were old enough to throw a softball, he switched to softball and had the unique privilege of coaching both of his girls to championships. Bozzuto was an amazing father and supported his daughters in everything they did, the women said, adding that he was the kind of dad who never missed a game and was their biggest cheerleader.
Bozzuto was also dedicated to his community of Shoshone, where he was a valued member of the local school board and served as board chair. He participated in many other local organizations and was always the first to volunteer and donate, friends said.
Bozzuto is survived by his daughters, two grandchildren and three siblings.
