Elmira Stove Works, makers of premium, vintage-inspired kitchen appliances, is taking its retro-look ranges into the 21st century with a new induction option, available in three popular models.
According to the Ontario, Canada-based company, the addition of induction ranges “expands the Elmira product line and provides customers with a more dynamic cooking experience.” Induction cooking, which provides high power and almost instantaneous increases in temperature, has become increasingly favored by consumers for its energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and quick heat, the manufacturer noted.
“As consumers continue to enhance sustainability in their homes … Elmira is keen on looking to the future of kitchen design while maintaining the tradition of craftmanship and classic styling from yesteryear,” the vendor said.
Back to the Future: Elmira’s Northstar, left, and Heritage Collection ranges are now available with induction cooktops.
The new induction ranges join a host of heating options that includes natural gas, liquid propane, dual fuel and radiant electric cooking. Each range is available in a selection of “not-so-standard colors” and over 200 custom colors.

“We are pleased to add induction cooktops to our lineup of pro-style kitchen ranges,” said Tony Dowling, Elmira’s vice president of sales and marketing. “This new offering allows Elmira to continue delivering premium, vintage-inspired appliances equipped with the most in-demand technology of today.”
The new induction cooktops are available within Elmira’s Northstar and Heritage Collections. The 30-inch Northstar model, 1954-IN-C, includes a cooktop with four 180mm coils, retro front knob power controls and Flex Zone technology that can heat a rectangular pan with up to 3,700 watts. It also features a residual heat indicator, pot detection, safety shutoff and a 4.0-cubic-foot, self-cleaning true convection oven. Upgrade options include a 2.0-cubic-foot under-oven warmer.
Elmira’s Heritage Collection offers two induction range options: a 30-inch, four-burner (model 1850-IN-C) and a 45-inch, six-burner (model 1855-IN-C). Their power ranges from 1,400 to 1,600 watts, with boosts up to 2,700 watts. Additional features include residual heat indicators, pot detection, safety shutoff, child safety lock and timer. A 2.0-cubic-foot side warmer is a standard feature on the 45-inch model. Each includes a 4.0-cubic-foot, self-cleaning true convection oven.
Elmira, now a unit of Plaintree Systems, Stove Works has been manufacturing vintage-styled ranges since 1975 and offers full lines of circa-1850 and retro/mid-century modern 1950s kitchen appliances including ranges, refrigerators, microwaves, wall ovens, range hoods, dishwashers and wood-burning cookstoves that are sold through dealers across North America.
