BrandSource’s newest appliance partner, Midea America, has named longtime industry exec John Herrington as president.
Herrington brings over 28 years of appliance vendor management to his new role, including senior leadership positions at Amana and Samsung and president-level posts at LG and Sharp. He formally assumed his new duties on Jan. 4.
“I am honored to join Midea America at this pivotal time,” Herrington said. “Midea is making significant investments in product development, people and innovation and is uniquely positioned for expansion. I look forward to working with the talented team to build the brand and our customer relationships to drive continued growth for the company.”
In announcing the appointment, Midea said Herrington’s “expertise in driving product innovation, building premium brands and achieving market leadership positions him as an ideal leader for Midea America.” The company further cited Herrington’s “notable record of revitalizing and transforming world-class brands,” his well-known “strategic approach to identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities,” and his proven track record of “leading teams to deliver innovative products and impactful marketing campaigns.”
Herrington succeeds Kurt Jovais, who was promoted to global director of management and special assistant to the president of Midea International. During his six-year tenure at Midea America, Jovais led the company’s growth from a niche business to a multi-billion-dollar presence across the home comfort, major appliance and small domestic categories, the vendor said.
Midea America is BrandSource’s latest appliance partner, having formally joined AVB’s vendor roster on Jan. 1. The company is based in Parsippany, N.J., and also operates an R&D facility in Kentucky and an Emerging Technology Center in California. It’s corporate parent, the $53 billion Midea Group, is headquartered in Southern China and produces refrigeration, laundry, air treatment, floor care and lighting products in 21 factories worldwide for sale in 195 countries.
