‘Pet project’ receives 2023 Good Housekeeping award

Speed Queen’s DR7 dryer has been named tops in the category by Good Housekeeping magazine in its “2023 Best Cleaning & Organizing Awards” series.
The pet-centric Speed Queen line broke new ground in the appliance industry in 2021 by including steam and anti-static cycles designed specifically for refreshing and sanitizing pet products. Maytag’s Pet Pro washer and GE Profile’s UltraFast Combo laundry pair were also acclaimed within the award’s “Awesome Appliances” category, as was Bosch’s Benchmark dishwasher with PowerControl.

Good Housekeeping lauded the DR7’s anti-static steam feature for its fur removal capabilities, noting that the model “was a top-notch dryer in our tests, and a dog-owning tester was thrilled to be able to dry pet items on a dedicated cycle and not have to brush fuzz from dry fabrics by hand.”
The DR7 was among a short list of winners chosen from an array of over 1,000 household products by a panel of 250 consumers, who tested the items for more than four months. Appliances were rated on performance, ease of use, innovation, responsible labeling and safety, among other criteria. Within the laundry category, washers and dryers were rated on how well they cleaned pre-stained clothes, how thoroughly they dried them and how gentle they were on fabrics. The testers also considered capacity, ease of use and the performance of any specialty cycles, like those designed to remove pet hair.
The winning products were announced in the September 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping. The complete list can be accessed here.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to see our legendary brand return to the pages of this iconic publication,” said Cody Masluk, vice president of Speed Queen consumer distribution. “Our DR7 and entire product range is built with the same American pride and commercial quality that has been the hallmark of the Speed Queen brand for more than 115 years.”
