Samsung’s Pet Care laundry pair is designed to remove fur and tough odors.
Presents mega-capacity fridge, pet-capable laundry pair

Samsung used the dog days of summer to launch its first laundry line for pet owners and the largest-capacity refrigerator in its class.
First the fridges: The manufacturer fully redesigned its most popular line of full- and counter-depth French Door refrigerators and re-christened it Mega Capacity, to reflect a 10% boost in storage space. The collection’s largest three-door model offers 32 cubic feet of storage capacity, which Samsung describes as the most within its class, while the line’s largest four-door model is right behind it with 31 cubic feet of space.
All feature a modern flat-door design, spacious interiors and adjustable slide-in shelving, as well as Samsung’s Dual Ice maker with “Ice Bites” — first introduced in the Bespoke line — that together with the external ice dispenser provides ice in four different shapes. The Mega Capacity fridges are also Wi-Fi enabled and include advanced energy-saving features to help reduce power usage and utility bills.
Available in fingerprint-resistant stainless steel and black matte steel as well as a Family Hub option, the fridges carry a 10-year warranty on parts and five years of coverage for labor on the units’ digital inverter compressors. Suggested retail prices start at $1,999.
As for pet owners, they now have an additional choice in laundry for removing fur and odors, following entries by Speed Queen and Maytag (see The Fur is Flying in Pet-Friendly Laundry). Samsung’s new 5.4 cubic foot Smart Top Load Washer with Pet Care Solution and companion Smart Dryer with Pet Care Dry work in tandem to remove six times the pet hair and to reduce common pet odors, the company said.
The washer’s Pet Care feature works by creating dynamic water currents to loosen dirt and rinse fur through specially-designed, removable dual pet hair filters, which trap the fur inside. Conversely, the dryer uses a dynamic tumbling algorithm specifically engineered to help eliminate unpleasant smells, and additionally features a Steam Sanitize+ setting.
The washer’s digital motor inverter carries a 20-year warranty, the industry’s longest, and like the Mega Capacity refrigerators, the laundry pair is Wi-Fi enabled and offers enhanced energy-saving features. Available in brushed navy or white finishes, the washer is priced to hit a $1,149 retail while the electric dryer is priced to sell for $1,149 and the gas model has a suggested retail of $1,249. Both the refrigerators and laundry pairs began shipping earlier this summer.
“We are continually pushing the boundaries of design and innovation to offer appliances that exceed the expectations of our customers,” said Shane Higby, senior vice president and head of Samsung’s Home Appliance Business in the U.S. “Our new fridge and laundry products expand our portfolio of appliances that offer elevated designs coupled with super-sized capacity, energy saving features and connectivity that only Samsung can deliver.”
