Joins Home Furnishings Business’s ‘Forty Under 40’ club

Another AVB staffer has been recognized by a business publication for her contribution to the industry.
Shauna Cardenas, catalog data manager for BrandSource’s furniture dealers, has joined the “Forty Under 40” brigade as selected by Home Furnishings Business. Now in its 10th year, the annual awards program honors the furniture industry’s young, rising stars for the difference they are making to the business and to their communities. Nominated by readers and chosen by HFB staff, the inductees include retailers and vendors from across the country, and all share a passion for home furnishings, the work they do and the drive to be an important part of the industry’s future, the publication said.
For her part, Cardenas leads AVB’s largest data entry and analysis department and is responsible for managing the group’s dynamic online product catalog, which features hundreds of home furnishings vendors and is deployed across hundreds of retail websites. Specifically, Cardenas is tasked with optimizing her team’s performance, launching new digital processes and expanding the catalog’s breadth and enhancing its quality.
Despite the challenges of a constantly shifting online landscape, Cardenas works diligently and tirelessly behind the scenes on behalf of BrandSource’s furniture dealers as part of the group’s Furniture Technology Source initiative. Among her accomplishments: successfully uniting four separate teams spanning multiple time zones into a single, cohesive unit, and achieving 100% staff retention despite a reorganization that included changes in titles and responsibilities.
When not toiling on behalf of the members, Cardenas is active with Veterans Affairs and is an animal lover who fosters strays and abandoned pets. She is described by colleagues as “an all-around sweetheart who is a joy to work with and an inspiration to all,” and embodies the best of AVB BrandSource and its member-first focus.
