Senior-level appointments set the stage for growth

Looking ahead to its next 45 years and more immediate plans for expansion, BrandSource member Miskelly Furniture has added four new vice presidents to its executive team.
Three of the appointments are promotions, including that of former sales director Caleb Miskelly to the newly created role of chief retail officer. Miskelly, son of CEO and company co-founder Oscar Miskelly, joined the family business in 2018 as a sales associate following retail stints at Nike, Lululemon and Nebraska Furniture Mart. He was named director of sales development and training in 2019 and director of sales the following year.
In his new post, Caleb will continue to lead the sales team and will also manage the Top 100 retailer’s marketing strategy, working closely with newly promoted IT vice president Troy Harrison. Both will continue to play integral roles in the company’s transition to a digitally-focused omnichannel retailer, leveraging many of the resources offered by AVB Marketing.
Also promoted to a newly created post is Caleb’s sister, Elizabeth Ann Howell. The longtime visual merchandising manager was named vice president of design and culture, with responsibility for showroom floor design, company events and related projects.
The fourth new VP is Mark Waters, a former distribution manager who returned to the company after a nearly eight-year absence to head up operations. Among his duties: expand the distribution center team and increase operational efficiencies in advance of new store openings.
The new additions to the executive team represent the next generation of leadership for the seven-store Mississippi chain, which was founded by Oscar and his brothers Tommy and Chip Miskelly in 1978. Besides accelerating the company’s digital capabilities, Caleb said the business is looking to expand its physical footprint outside of the state, while keeping its commitment to “furnish happiness” to customers.
