Las Vegas is the site of the company’s fifth location

BrandSource member BlvdHome opened a gorgeous new 100,000-square-foot store in Las Vegas earlier this month. Located on the city’s northwest side, it will be the fifth location for the St. George, Utah-based retailer, and its second in Nevada. The new store officially opened its doors on July 13.

“At Boulevard Home, we are excited to be able to offer you quality furniture, mattresses and appliances that will enhance your lives,” CEO Mark Wittwer told a crowd of customers and dignitaries at the ribbon cutting. “We have a store in Mesquite and have been delivering to this market for years. Nevada has always been a big part of what we do, we are delighted to be here in Vegas.”

The new Las Vegas location will feature a variety of products including living room furniture, dining sets, bedroom sets, kitchen and laundry appliances, mattresses and home decor items. The store is a destination unto itself and features a towering waterfall, a giant rock display, a snack bar and a bargain area along with countless displays of beautiful furniture and home furnishings.

The showroom was built out in a space that was once occupied by a K-Mart.

One of the big questions BlvdHome had when considering a move to Las Vegas was whether the business could find enough good people to hire to fill the open positions for such a large store, and Wittwer addressed that question during his opening address.

“We were initially concerned, because we have employees at our other locations that have been with us for decades,” he said. “Can we replicate that here in Las Vegas? We were pleasantly surprised to get over 1,000 applications for the store and we picked the best of the best and have assembled an amazing team. We are no longer worried about getting great employees anymore. We found them.”

The new location will be staffed with around 60 retail associates, all of whom were excited to open the doors to the public and begin serving the furniture and appliance needs of the Greater Las Vegas area.

Tyler Wittwer, COO of the business, was pleased with the store’s kickoff. “The grand opening was amazing, we had tremendous support from the city, elected officials and most of all our customers who waited patiently outside in 108-degree heat to be the first to get a peek inside this beautiful store,” he said. “We could not ask for a better turnout or anything more from the community. We are super excited about this market. It presents a huge challenge as well as a huge opportunity in that the market is several times bigger than any of the markets we are presently in. It will be both an adventure and a learning experience.”

The story of BlvdHome began in 1974, when founder Lester Wittwer’s son Tony Wittwer decided to venture away from the family’s other businesses and venture into the world of furniture retailing. He started with just two full-time employees and a small showroom of only 8,000 square feet. Tony was on hand to celebrate the opening of the Vegas store, and his nephew, COO Tyler, had high praise for the vision of his Uncle Tony. “He always did things big and in grand style although sometimes he had to convince his brothers to go big,” Tyler said. “He had a great eye for furniture and kept immaculate facilities. We owe a debt of gratitude to him for helping us get to where we are today.”

BlvdHome now has five retail locations with over 250,000 square feet of showroom space.
