China’s Haier Group has retained bragging rights as the world’s largest manufacturer of home appliances.
According to a report in Business Korea, the appliance giant shipped approximately $33.3 billion in home appliances last year, making it the largest white-goods maker on the planet. The business journal attributed Haier’s global dominance to a past buying spree that added appliance powerhouse GE, New Zealand’s Fisher & Paykel, and Japan’s Sanyo brand to its appliance portfolio.
The publication also declared LG Electronics tops in worldwide appliance sales, albeit in the category of standalone brand. The company’s eponymous LG badge garnered about $22.8 billion in total factory sales for its Home Appliance division last year, surpassing Whirlpool, which shipped approximately $19.4 billion in white-goods worldwide in 2022.
Whirlpool’s global sales tally is expected to decline going forward, following the recent divestiture of its European, Middle Eastern, African and Russian appliance operations.
