Last week’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), the country’s largest trade event for home appliances, culminated in the conferring of its Best of KBIS 2023 awards.
Taking Best in Show honors within the appliance category were GE, for its smart GE Profile 36-inch touch control induction cooktop, and Fotile, for its Insert self-adjusting range hood.
GE’s award winner is part of a new induction cooktop lineup “that builds on the benefits that owners would expect from induction technology,” the company said, including the addition of online connectivity, precision temperature control and guided cooking features that make cooking with induction “simpler and more precise than ever before.”
“GE Profile continues to integrate smart-home technology into its appliances to ensure owners have a simpler and smarter cooking and cleaning experience,” said Todd Getz, executive brand director for GE Profile. “We are so proud of the lineup of innovations that we are bringing to the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show this year, and we believe that some of these will truly change the way people look at laundry and cooking by disrupting the category in ways that have never been done before.”
China-based Fotile, a 27-year-old manufacturer of range hoods, cooktops, sink-dishwasher combo systems and other kitchen appliances, was lauded for its Insert range hood, which automatically adjusts its height upon detecting smoke, vapor or hazardous gases to ensure fast and thorough ventilation. The unit employs a permanent magnet synchronous motor (also found in Tesla’s Model 3 electric automobiles) for quiet and energy-efficient operation, and can be paired with Fotile cooktops for automatic start-up and to activate a motion control on/off feature.
“Our products continue to be very much inspired by nature, powered by technology and designed for wellness,” said Fotile America VP Stein Shi. “We are committed to innovating and expanding our product lineup to be adaptable for every kind of home size while keeping families worldwide protected and healthy in the kitchen.”
The two appliances, along with six other award winners from the bath, connected home and fixtures categories, were chosen from over 100 entries and a field of 50 finalists by a five-judge team of interior designers.
