BrandSource member helps teachers and schoolkids start the semester right

Michigan-based BrandSource member Bekins did double duty for the new school year.
Working in coordination with the West Michigan chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the appliance and consumer tech business helped support a school supply drive for the local Townline Elementary School in Grand Rapids by using its two stores and standalone warehouse and service center facility as drop-off locations for donations.
But students weren’t the only benefactors of Bekins’s benevolence. In collaboration with Whirlpool, the dealer participated in a second NKBA initiative at the grade school: an extreme makeover of the teachers’ lounge, which was sorely in need of an upgrade. Together the appliance partners provided a new fridge and under-the-counter microwave for the school staff, and helped teachers and students start the semester right.
Bekins wasn’t the only BrandSource member to go to the head of the class this fall. Shawano, Wis.-based Heins Appliance similarly offered up its store as a drop-off location for donated school supplies, as previously reported by YSN.
BrandSource, a unit of YSN publisher AVB Inc., is a nationwide buying group for independent appliance, furniture, mattress and CE dealers.
