Plans to pursue a career in medicine at the University of Nebraska

One of the high points of the recent Summit 22 in Las Vegas was the announcement of this year’s AVB/BrandSource scholarship award winners.
As part of a longstanding effort to support higher education, the group bestows $10,000 in academic achievement awards annually. The goal of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to the families of BrandSource members to help offset higher education expenses.
Among the four winners this year was Isabella Lichti, better known as Bella to her friends and family at Lichti TV, Furniture & Appliance Center in York, Neb. Bella is the daughter Darin Lichti and granddaughter of Max Lichti, principals of the 50-plus-year-old Nebraska business.
Bella will be attending the University of Nebraska – Lincoln this fall and plans to take her education even further by pursuing a degree as a Physician’s Assistant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Her goal: to specialize in family medicine or women’s health. To that end, she is currently shadowing local health professionals to gain perspective and help her select her career path in medicine.
Outside of school, Bella keeps herself busy playing sports and engaging in outdoor activities with friends or her golden retriever. Her family is her biggest supporter, instilling motivation, diligence, and independence in all that she does.
Bella is grateful to all who have helped her along on her journey and taught her important life lessons. “I thank my family for giving me the opportunity to become the person that I am today,” she told YSN. “I am proud of who I am, and I know I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all who have helped me along the way.”
Bella also expressed her gratitude to BrandSource for the scholarship, and said she was honored to receive it.
Her father Darin concurred. “Bella was so appreciative of winning this scholarship,” he said. “She applied entirely on her own, and when she received word that she had won she called me and her grandpa right away to share the exciting news.”
“This scholarship will be a big help to her in the pursuit of her career,” the Lichti’s TV owner added. “We are all grateful for this program”
Bella was among four winners chosen from dozens of submissions to receive $2,500 toward fall enrollment. The candidates were judged on their academic merit (including their GPA and extracurricular activities); their community involvement; a written essay; and additional criteria including their responses to follow-up questions and the overall presentation of their submission.

She is a shining example of how our members do such a fantastic job instilling the same values in their kids that make them successful in business. It turns out that hard work, discipline, and resilience not only makes for great retailers like those at Lichti’s, but for high-achieving students as well.
