Something new for under the tree and countertop

BrandSource vendor partner Thor Kitchen is ending out the year with a new kitchen addition for holiday cooks.
The premium appliance upstart, known for its sleek, pro-style products and practical pricing, has added a 24-inch microwave drawer to its kitchen collection, the company’s first in that product category.
The Los Angeles-based vendor says the new 950-Watt unit offers the premium features consumers expect from traditional over-the-range (OTR) or standalone microwave ovens, including 10 power levels for precision heating and 12 unique food prep functions.
In addition, its sleek, 1.2-cubic-foot stainless-steel design offers flexible installation in islands, peninsulas, standard cabinetry or right next to a wall oven.
“We’ve all grown accustomed to microwaves that are placed above the range, or that just sit on the countertop and take up valuable space,” said Thor managing director Kyle You. “The 24-inch microwave drawer can be installed below the counter, so at-home ‘microwave chefs’ can have the luxury features they’d expect from a premium appliance and more counterspace for meal prep.”
Pre-programmed functions include common settings like defrost and a beverage center, as well as more premium modes for melting chocolate, softening ice cream, keeping cooked foods warm, and two separate settings for popping corn.
In addition, the microwave drawer features auto touch open/close controls that allow users to open and close the unit with the touch of a button.
The product carries a suggested retail price of $1,699 and has already begun shipping.
The microwave is the latest addition to Thor’s expanding cooking assortment, which recently made room for the company’s first electric range.
Thor, which plays off its Norse-inspired name with the tagline “Cook like a god,” describes its high-performance products as pleasing to the eye, appetite and pocketbook. For more information, visit thorkitchen.com or the BrandSource Backroom.
