On ‘GivingTuesday,’ Kindly Consider Together We Rise

We shopped ’til we dropped on Black Friday and are letting our fingers do the walking on Cyber Monday.

But Amanda Nelson, a project manager at AVB Marketing, would like to remind one and all that tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 30) is a special day as well: GivingTuesday. The concept, conceived in 2012 at New York’s 92nd Street Y and now shepherded by an independent non-profit, was to designate a day that would encourage people to do good and inspire generosity around the world.

As Nelson noted in a message to AVB employees, one way to express that generosity is by giving to your favorite charitable organization. Nelson, who lobbied to make Together We Rise AVB’s charity partner, is admittedly biased toward the foster care support service, which provides comfort, resources and even college educations to tens of thousands of kids caught up in the foster care system.

This GivingTuesday, folks can help make a difference in foster kids’ lives by donating $55 or more to the organization’s scholarship fund and receive a limited edition Better Together holiday mug and hot chocolate kit in return for their generosity.

“Of course, any donation in any amount, helps foster youth in our communities,” Nelson said.

You can make your GivingTuesday donation to Together We Rise here … and you won’t need the hot chocolate to feel warm inside.
