Serta Simmons Bedding will have a stepped-up presence at this week’s 2021 BrandSource Convention.
The mattress maker is looking for a warm reception to its newest cooling mattress, Serta Arctic, and is supporting the launch with a corporate contingent led by Chief Commercial Officer Melanie Huet and Chief Sales Officer Derek Miller.
And just like their bedding, the SSB execs will have a high profile at the show.
Huet, who recently assumed her new CCO role in addition to her post as Chief Marketing Officer, will kick off today’s Furniture Technology Source education track by hosting a special Mattress University session this morning. The discussion will cover changes in the consumer’s shopping journey and how mattress shoppers continue to buy in-store after researching their purchases online.

Huet, one of the highest-ranking females in home furnishings, will also break bread with BrandSource members during tomorrow’s Women in Business Breakfast.’
“We continue to be impressed by the leadership of AVB and its ability to drive a growth agenda,” she noted. “SSB is a proud partner of AVB.”
Meanwhile, Miller, a 23-year Serta veteran, will share his industry insights and field dealers’ questions and concerns at this afternoon’s Supply Chain Fireside Chat, which rounds out today’s Furniture Technology Source schedule.
“Our partnership with the AVB buying group goes back decades, and it’s an honor to be able to showcase our latest Serta and Beautyrest innovations as part of the ‘Double Down’ Convention,” Miller said. “SSB is committed to the success of independent retailers, and we see this Convention as a way to showcase our most innovative new products ever, which are specifically designed to help drive retail traffic and increase premium retail sales.”
Leading the product parade is the aforementioned Serta Arctic, which is engineered with 15-times better cooling ability compared to a Serta Perfect Sleeper Luminous Sleep mattress thanks to an exclusive Reactex system that provides cool, comfortable sleep all night long. Its triple-layer technology features a fusion of premium memory foam and cooling gel, with each layer offering successively greater cooling capacity to pull heat away from the body and dissipate it deep into the mattress.
“We are pleased to bring our number one innovation, Serta Arctic, to the show for its unveiling,” Huet told YSN. “Serta has invested 18 months in research and development to bring the latest in cooling technology to the market [and] initial response to Arctic in the test market is exceeding our expectations.”
Miller added that response to Serta’s other showstopper, the Beautyrest Harmony Lux Hybrid, has similarly been “overwhelmingly positive.”
