Convention21 at Your Service with New ServiceSource Track

By Alan Wolf, YSN

BrandSource is expanding its servicer support with a first-time series of service-specific programming at this week’s Convention21.

The new ServiceSource track of educational sessions will tackle such critical topics as setting reasonable service rates, hiring and retaining techs, and effectively marketing your repair services.

The addition of a dedicated seminar series follows other recent service initiatives including a monthly newsletter for BrandSource servicers; National Service Town Halls; expert advice columns; digital marketing campaigns; and the addition of service industry specialist Paul MacDonald as an AVB consultant — all in the pursuit of repair profitability.

MacDonald will serve as moderator of this weekend’s ServiceSource sessions, which kick off Sunday morning with insights into “Setting Service Rates Based on the Cost of Doing Business,” with an assist by BrandSource partners Professional Service Association (PSA) and Fred’s Appliance Academy.

Following that is a “Lunch ’n Learn” session on “Professional Servicing Pricing,” in which MacDonald will be joined by representatives of SCS Communications, MPH Search and The Original Blue Book job rate guide for major appliances.

Next up, Master Samurai Tech, Fred’s Appliance Academy and recruitment experts CareerPlug will weigh in on ways to “Find, Hire and Retain Technicians,” while AVB Marketing VP Brian Wattier will cap the day with a discourse on service-specific marketing strategies.

The ServiceSource track wraps up the following morning with a Service Town Hall breakfast. The theme of that gathering: “Making Service Profitable,” in which service industry veteran Bill Lange will offer expert advice on turning your repair business into a profit center, including the use of money-making warranty programs, plus tips on ensuring a good customer experience.
