Canham Maytag’s Bill Canham and his son John are making good use of the BrandSource toolbox.
Taking this year’s show themes to heart, BrandSource member Bill Canham of Canham Maytag Home Appliance Center in Norfolk, Neb., is doubling down on the group’s products and services to great effect. He conveyed his success in a letter to Member Relations General Manager Kevin Werner and staff, and kindly agreed to share it with the membership.
Good morning gentlemen.
I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that we have definitely grabbed the “double down” theme here at the store and couldn’t have done it without the support of BrandSource.
First and foremost, we were lucky enough to hire two more excellent salespeople in the last month, including a bi-lingual salesperson. I know many are struggling to hire help and help is walking out the door, but through an aggressive social media push I was able to find two outstanding candidates and they are working out so well. I’m thrilled.
Second, in a huge leap of faith, we utilized Expert Warehouse with the help of the amazing Tim Lally and my son John (who is taking a very active role with me) to bring on LG TVs and soundbars. We are showing everything from 55-inch to 86-inch units, including both NanoCell and OLEDs. We have an incredible floor display, and it’s very striking in our store and certainly grabs attention.
It took a lot of faith and courage to make an additional $20,000 investment in our store at this time, but we figured there was no time like the present to get it started. When others are downsizing inventory, we “doubled down” and completely improved the look of our showroom and have a new customer segment we are chasing.
Third, the assistance of BrandSource’s great partners has helped us put appliances on the floor when the entire country is dealing with shortages. Granted, it’s things we wouldn’t “normally” display and show, but we’ve taken the philosophy of “The Best Ability is Availability.”
And finally, BrandSource digital marketing has been a key factor in us getting the word out about what we do have in stock, and the addition of our TV/soundbar displays. We have fantastic support both on the digital marketing side as well as our website function. It is so much appreciated.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the continued support through what has been a very trying 17 months or so. I am looking forward to seeing everyone next month and can’t wait to see where we continue to grow and adapt as a group.
Although somewhat scary, it’s a very exciting time to be a member of BrandSource.
