Pieratt’s Pulls No Punches with TV Viewers

In his keynote address at last week’s Summit, Marcus Sheridan counseled members to be honest and transparent in their dealings with customers.

But BrandSource dealer Michael Cox of Pieratt’s took that credo to new heights this week in a TV news report about delivery delays. Speaking on camera with local CBS affiliate WKYT, the Lexington, Ky.-based appliance, furniture, bedding and TV retailer was forthright about industrywide supply snafus and extended delays on special orders.

“We don’t really know what’s coming in and how long it’s going to take to get here,” explained Cox, who serves as marketing director and senior operations manager of the three-store chain.

Cox advised customers to choose from Pieratt’s substantial selection of in-stock items, or risk waits of four months or more for specific appliance models and up to six months for a particular piece of furniture.

The reason? Cox pointed to COVID-related kinks in the supply chain — including the recent run on foam — combined with exploding demand for appliances and home furnishings as housebound consumers look to upgrade their surroundings.

“We’re getting shipments every day and manufacturers are working at 100 percent capacity,” he said. “But you need to be flexible and shop for things that are available today. If it fits your needs and fits your dimensions, you should go ahead and grab it because it might not be here tomorrow.”
