The United Appliance Servicers Association (UASA), a BrandSource partner and arguably the nation’s largest appliance repair trade group, has pulled the plug on next February’s Annual Service Training Institute (ASTI) due to COVID-related health concerns.
The event, which was slated for Feb. 7-11 in San Antonio, is a major training and networking conference drawing manufacturers, appliance repair marketers, business experts and other industry leaders from across the country.
UASA said the decision was reached “after much thought, time, deliberation and caution,” and that all pre-paid registration fees will be applied automatically to the 2022 show in St. Pete Beach, Fla., or can be reserved for the 2023 event in San Antonio upon request.
Unlike other trade events that transitioned to an online format, there will be no virtual ASTI next year. Instead, UASA executive director Sarah Brown said the association will hold its first ASTILite gathering later in 2021 and will reach and educate the membership with “a beefed-up webinar schedule” in the new year.
Members can contact UASA with questions or registration fee preferences at (800) 683-2558 or administration@unitedservicers.com.
In other UASA news, the trade group will hold a virtual networking opportunity next Thursday, Nov. 19 at 4:00 p.m. EST. Dubbed “The Laundry Room,” the Zoom event is described as “a virtual roundtable discussion” in which members can meet, chat, exchange ideas and learn. Click here to register.
