BrandSource member Don’s Appliances has been named one of Pittsburgh’s best places to work for a sixth consecutive year.
The honor was bestowed once again by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which bases its annual Top Workplaces list solely on employee feedback. Workers rated their employers in an anonymous survey that measured 15 drivers of “engaged cultures” — such as alignment, execution, and connection — which are considered critical to the success of any organization.
“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” observed Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage, which conducted the survey for the Post-Gazette. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization.”
He said the newspaper’s Top Workplaces program can serve as “that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”
Matt Hillebrand, a principal of Don’s Appliances, agreed. “Navigating through these difficult times can never be done alone,” he noted. “It takes focused team members to continually evolve a company so as not to dissolve … We will continue to take the recommendations of our team members to improve our company. Founded in 1971, Don’s Appliances is a family-owned, independent dealer that sells, delivers, installs and services all major appliance brands throughout greater Pittsburgh area. The company says its 10 locations makes it large enough to offer competitive pricing yet small enough to continue offering the “white glove” level of service it was founded on. But besides its focus on the customer experience, Don’s takes pride in “taking great care” of its employees — as reflected in its Top Workplace honors.
