LG Electronics’ first and only U.S. appliance plant has spit out its 1 millionth washer after just 14 months of operation.
The laundry factory, located in Clarksville, Tenn., went live in May 2019 with two production lines making top- and front-load models. LG invested $360 million in the highly automated plant, which is equipped with state-of-the-art robotics.
The million-square-foot facility has “increased LG’s competitiveness in the U.S., increasing speed to market and responsiveness to changing market conditions,” said Thomas Yoon, CEO of LG Electronics North America.
The millionth washer was an Energy Star-certified front-load model with smart features, the company said.
