One of BrandSource’s newest members hails from the most welcoming burg in America — Welcome, Minn.
Taking its trade name from its hometown, Welcome TV Sales/Service was founded by Val and Eva Godden back in October 1954, as broadcast television began taking root.
The Goddens, along with brother-in-law Bill Monk, started out by providing the southern Minnesota locale with TVs, UHF antenna installations and TV repairs. Now an LG Electronics dealer, the company has since expanded into audio equipment, accessories, DISH satellite systems, and handcrafted entertainment centers from WolfCraft and Perdue Woodworks.
And, as its name suggests, the company continues to carry a full selection of TVs, ranging from basic 22-inch models up to LG’s latest 75-inch 4K NanoCell smart panels.
Keeping it all in the family, the Godden’s son Curt joined Welcome TV in 1969 and Curt’s daughter, third-generation principal Bridget Blue, came aboard in 1997. Blue remained very active in the business and is now General Manager, making her grandparents proud.
Asked what makes Welcome TV stand out from the competition, Blue cited the staff’s around-the-clock accessibility. “We are always available,” she said. In fact, “Every TV sold has the cellphone number of someone on staff in case the customer has questions at any time.”
In addition, the dealer holds sales drives every year to support local non-profits, including area veterans’ hospitals and the Minnesota branch of the Disabled American Veterans organization (DAV).
Blue championed her company’s membership in BrandSource, which will help keep it abreast of a rapidly changing industry and marketplace. The family also plans on utilizing the group’s financing programs and extended warranty and service offerings, and will be launching their new, AVB Marketing-designed website in September.
