True Refrigeration’s 49-cubic-foot freezer retails for $4,489.
True Residential, the luxury home refrigeration brand, is making its sister division’s large-capacity commercial refrigerators and freezers available to the retail channel for the first time.
The large-scale models, manufactured in Missouri, are not generally available to consumers.
Sales and Marketing Director Steve Proctor said the expanded distribution was driven by customer requests for additional food storage capacity amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“Families — especially those sheltering with immunocompromised, at-risk elderly members, and even a full-house of kids home from college — are searching for any possible way to decrease their exposure at grocery stores,” Proctor said. “Our commercial arm’s large-capacity freezers and refrigerators can vastly reduce the frequency of these visits.”
The company is offering freestanding freezers and refrigerators from its True Refrigeration commercial division to authorized dealers in 12-, 19-, 23- and 49-cubic-foot options. The latter is capable of holding the equivalent of up to a dozen grocery runs in food, the manufacturer said. True is also selling the models direct to consumers through a new factory-direct program, albeit with curbside delivery only.
The company advises against kitchen installation as the commercial units’ larger motors and components generate more noise than residential models, and instead recommends placement in garages and basements.
True Residential and True Refrigeration are divisions of True Manufacturing Co., a third-generation family-owned appliance maker based in St. Louis. For more information, call (888) 616-8783.
