Miskelly Reopens Stores, Credits AVB’s Transactional Website for Tiding it Over

By YSN Staff

Top 100 furniture chain Miskelly Furniture has cautiously reopened its seven Mississippi stores after shutting the showrooms down for one month.

According to a report in FurnitureToday, the recently-joined BrandSource member credits its adoption of AVB Marketing’s e-commerce platform back in September for maintaining brisk sales while the stores remained dark.

Alan Vonder Haar, the company’s Director of Strategic Development and Growth, told the publication that online sales had risen 200 percent or more after switching to the AVB Marketing transactional site, and that the changeover, along with aggressive digital marketing, helped Miskelly ride out the disruptions of Mississippi’s shelter-in-place mandate.

Indeed, a recent virtual tent sale promotion led to a near quadrupling of online traffic and sales, he said, and he hopes to keep the momentum going with the addition of a live chat feature this week.

Meanwhile, all 70 furloughed sales staffers were back on the job for yesterday’s store re-openings, albeit armed with masks and hand sanitizer. Masks are also provided to customers, who are admitted by appointment only and must adhere to social distancing guidelines.
