BSH Home Appliances is closing its U.S. manufacturing facilities in New Bern, N.C., and LaFollette, Tenn., until mid-April.

In a letter to trade partners, BSH CEO Christofer von Nagel said the action was taken to mitigate the spread of coronavirus under federal, state and local guidelines.

BSH will continue to ship products, and its logistics, supply chain, sales and builder teams “are working together closely with numerous proactive measures in place to minimize the negative impact on our business and our ability to serve your needs,” von Nagel wrote.

He added that the company’s sales teams will work closely with their customers and continue to provide updates “during this ever-changing situation as we make every effort to support you.”

GE Appliances has similarly shut down its main Appliance Park production facilities in Louisville, Ky., reportedly for a one-week factory cleaning.
