AVB Leadership Conference Racing to Aid Make-A-Wish

Each December AVB holds a Leadership Conference where directors, staff and vendors assess the preceding 12 months and set the group’s goals for the year ahead.

Easily the most gratifying item on the annual itinerary is a charity event that continues AVB’s longstanding tradition of helping children in need. This year’s gathering, which will be held Dec. 4-6 at The Scottsdale Plaza Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., will benefit Make-A-Wish Arizona, the founding chapter of the now international organization that helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

AVB’s Jennifer Baldwin, GM of Customer Experience, said the format for this year’s fundraiser will be a car race, albeit in battery-powered Power Wheels toy vehicles. Vendors are being asked to sponsor a regional team and join their pit crew, while attendees will be invited to place charity wagers on the regions.

All winning bets will be matched by AVB|BrandSource, and the plan, as of this writing, calls for the Power Wheels racers to be donated to the local Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix.

“We raised $75,000 for Toys for Tots last year, so we’re hoping to raise the same or more for Make-A-Wish!” Baldwin said.
