GE First to Show Appliances at High Point Furniture Market

GE Appliances has added another first to its list of accomplishments this month by becoming the first brand to showcase appliances at High Point Market.

The company used the occasion of the five-day, premier furniture expo in High Point, N.C., to debut two new lines from its super-premium Monogram platform: The Statement Collection and the Minimalist Collection.

The Statement Collection blends traditional and modern design with the use of bold edge-to-edge handles, large windows, interactive graphic displays and minimal use of knobs, GE said.

Its Minimalist Collection takes the use of modern edges and seamless lines even further with precisely crafted metal framing and enhanced interior visibility and tap-to-open features that replace knobs and handles wherever possible.

For both collections, Monogram engineers borrowed techniques and materials from luxury automobile production, including precision-machined aluminum extrusions for virtually invisible seams. The specialized technique enables ultra-flush installations with “crisp edges and tight custom fits” between appliances and surrounding cabinetry, GE said.

“With these new and inspired collections, we’re moving toward a sleeker look that is embodied by elevated craftsmanship and materials, which will blend more seamlessly with adjacent cabinetry,” noted Rebecca Alvord, Monogram brand’s Principal Industrial Designer.

Edward Mammorella, Monogram’s Commercial Brand Director, added that the appliance maker saw High Point as “an opportunity to further explore every aspect of the design within the design community.”
