Attention BrandSource audio dealers: Vinyl records are poised to outsell music CDs for the first time since 1986!

According to the Recording Industry of America’s (RIAA’s) Mid-Year Music Revenues Report, retail sales of vinyl albums grew 13 percent during the first six months of 2019, to $224 million. CDs still outsold them, ringing up $247.9 million in revenue, although their sales growth stalled at just 0.8 percent year over year.

Regardless, both formats pale before digital, which accounted for nearly $4 billion in sales through the first half of the year, the RIAA reported.
