Teresa Parish, manager at Kitchens Inc. in Van Wert, Ohio, was the Grand Prize winner in the Social Media Hashtag Contest at this year’s BrandSource Convention … but didn’t know it.
Parish left the show unaware she had won the top prize – a three-night stay and a $350 travel voucher for the 2020 Summit, be held March 8-11, 2020, at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. Indeed, she had no idea what a fellow member was talking about when the dealer told her “Lucky you, see you in Vegas!”, and even “liked” an AVB Events App post announcing the winners.
It took a follow-up congratulatory call from AVB Communications Coordinator Dori Easterson for Parish to learn of her winnings.
“Did you even read the posts you ‘liked’?” Easterson asked.
“Obviously not,” laughed Parish. “Awesome! Awesome! I am so excited! I can’t believe it!”
Parish was surprised by her prize but not by the follow-up call, as Easterson is always “so helpful and ready to answer any questions” at BrandSource events, she said.
Parish wasn’t the only lucky contestant: five runners-up walked away with $100 American Express gift cards, including Greg Phillips of Phillips Supply in Greenville, S.C.; Herbie Hess of Hess Home Furnishings in Mount Pleasant, Texas; Lindsay Ashworth of Ashworth Appliance and Electronic Sales/M&H Appliance Sales & Service in Minn.; Carolyn Flores of Baker Brothers Furniture & Appliance in Watsonville, Calif.; and Dionne Prull of Superior Appliance in Monticello, Iowa.
