Whirlpool’s 100th Anniversary
Whirlpool sales exec Mark Hecht recounted the company’s exciting Stampede, where “The dealer energy was incredible,” he told YourSourceNews. Also exciting were the new products and innovations shared at the show, including the KitchenAid Smart Oven+ with plug-in accessories; new laundry; and a new color palette for its KitchenAid commercial-style ranges, introduced on the 100th anniversary of the brand.
Bosch To BrandSource: How Dry I Am
Bosh came to Dallas with what staffers described as “fantastic new drying technologies,” including Crystal Dry, available in all its 800 Series dishwashers, which utilizes a natural, moisture-absorbing mineral that emits heat when wet. The heat is circulated by an onboard fan, which together leave plates, glasses, flatware and even plastics completely dry.
The (Sales) Force Was With GE
GE Appliance came to town with one of the largest lineups in memory, including new dishwashers with an outstanding dry performance story; new-to-the-portfolio four-door refrigerators; a Modern Glass finish for the GE Café line, an industry first; and a new front-load platform that eliminates mildewy odors, which is a major pain point for the configuration. But the biggest news at the show remains under wraps until November, when the company will announce a major partnership that may send it into Hyperspace.
Something Crafty From LG
LG Electronics, known for its home goods innovation, didn’t disappoint at the Dallas show, where it showcased a new freezer capability: Craft Ice. The globe-shaped ice, about the size of a tennis ball, is 90 percent clear and lasts up to two hours before melting, making it the perfect addition for those who take their bourbon seriously – and on the rocks.
Tempur Sealy Seals the Deal
Exclusivity equals clout in the retail trade, a fact that is hardly lost on Tempur Sealy. To that end, the mattress maker came to the Convention bearing the brand new 13-bed Carrington Chase collection by Sealy, which try as others might, is available to BrandSource dealers only.
Cool Bedding at Serta Simmons
Serta Simmons put its best foot forward with its new Beautyrest Black Hybrid line, which features the company’s most advanced T3 Pocketed Coil technology to absorb energy, reduce motion and provide exceptional support, durability and undisturbed sleep. The line also features a new BlackICE 4.0 temperature-management system, which uses four cooling methods for cooler, better sleep, as well as specially curated memory foams to reduce pressure points in the hips and shoulders.
For Electrolux, It’s Fry, Fry Again
On the Expo floor, Electrolux was touting its new Air Fry range, marketed under the Frigidaire Gallery brand. Reportedly the first full-size range in the market to incorporate the technology, the product was inspired by the popularity of countertop air fryers, which were a hot holiday gift last year. Electrolux’s take on the healthful kitchen category saves counter space while providing a larger cooking area to handle those hungry crowds.
Restonic Not Resting on Its Laurels
Restonic came to the BrandSource Expo riding a wave of excitement thanks to its high-profile partners, Jonathan and Drew Scott of HGTV’s “Property Brothers” show. Restonic is producing an exclusive mattress collection for the pair’s Scott Living home furnishings collection, which is giving dealers a leg up in a crowded market. Higher up on the luxury scale is the new Biltmore line, developed with the folks behind George Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate. Together the collections drew a host of new dealer customers and reinforced ties with current ones.
Speed Queen the King of Warranties
The big news at Speed Queen is the return of the company’s vaunted frontload washers, which are commercially built to last 25 years, reported Jay McDonald, VP of North American Home Laundry Sales. The company has also brought back its older top load washer design, first launched 40 years ago, for shoppers in search of a basic model. Like all of Speed Queen’s rugged products, the washer carries an industry-leading seven-year warranty covering all parts and in-home labor – except for September, when the coverage period was upped to 10 years to commemorate the line being named “most reliable appliance in America” by Consumer Reports magazine.
